REFLECTION:

Artifacts in this section helped me to begin exploring standards of social, ethical, and legal practices. Although I knew policies existed, it wasn’t until I began using the internet extensively as a resource for coursework that I started learning and researching in depth information on policies, responsibilities, and ethical practices. I first began thinking about copyright laws using technology in my TBE 540 class when instructed how to save images off the internet for presentation and workshop usage. I have learned in class that it was safe for educators and students to copy materials for multimedia purposes when a reference of where the source came from was provided. I had the opportunity to review and revise technology policies of educational facilities for my TBE 550 class which was useful in helping me to identify, incorporate and enforce safety issues in my lesson content and in the workplace. I often refer to my company’s tech polices to make sure that the tasks I perform on the internet are ethical and safe practices.

I was able to find an informative website, CyberSmart! It is a free website for educators, that discusses how to use and teach your students how to use the Internet safely, responsibly, and effectively. With this information I’ve found out the safe practices when using the internet.
